About this plugin
Energy Panner 2 from Sound Particles is a specialized spatializer designed around psychoacoustic principles rather than conventional stereo panning. The plugin models how the human ear perceives spatial information through energy distribution, using multi-band processing to create convincing width without relying solely on phase relationships or level differences. This approach yields a more stable stereo image that translates reliably across playback systems.
The Educational Version provides access to the core spatializing engine at reduced cost, making it particularly valuable for students, educators, and emerging producers working with budget constraints. The interface prioritizes intuitive control over esoteric parameter sets, allowing quick assessment of how energy distribution affects mix width and depth perception.

Sound Particles' approach differentiates itself from traditional panners by avoiding phantom center artifacts and maintaining coherence in mono. The plugin excels on drums, instruments requiring dimensional character, and master bus enhancement where conventional stereo widening creates phasing issues. Among spatial audio tools, Energy Panner 2 occupies a practical middle ground between mastering-grade panning and creative widening, making it a pragmatic choice for mixing work requiring perceptual accuracy over novelty.
