About this plugin
DST represents a thoughtful approach to multiband distortion, addressing a genuine gap in how most saturation tools handle frequency-dependent processing. Rather than applying uniform harmonic coloration across the spectrum, DST splits the signal into four independent bands, each with its own distortion engine, EQ controls, and gain staging. This architecture proves particularly valuable when you need surgical control - tightening low-end grit without muddying mids, or adding presence-layer aggression without compromising vocal clarity.
The plugin's three distortion algorithms span a practical range. The first favors transparent breakup suitable for polishing transients and adding cohesion to mix buses. The second leans toward characterful saturation with mid-range emphasis, working well on drums and bass. The third pushes into more aggressive territory for creative sound design and genre-specific textures. Each maintains musicality across the frequency spectrum rather than degrading into mud at extreme settings.

The interface prioritizes workflow efficiency. Visual feedback for each band's frequency range and distortion amount reduces guesswork, while the included presets serve as legitimate starting points rather than gimmicks. Input and output metering keeps you anchored to technical reality.
DST appeals most to mix engineers seeking transparent parallel compression alternatives and producers working in electronic, hip-hop, and pop contexts where controlled harmonic enhancement matters. While not a substitute for quality analog gear, it occupies meaningful territory between conventional multiband compressors and full-spectrum saturation plugins. For those needing frequency-aware distortion without excessive CPU overhead, DST delivers functional and sonically coherent results.
