About this plugin
Denise Audio's Motion Filter represents a thoughtful evolution of their original Sweeper plugin, delivering a resonant filter architecture with dual modulation approaches that justify the upgrade for users seeking deeper creative control. The plugin implements Nyquist-corrected filtering topology, which maintains response integrity across its full frequency range without the phase distortion or resonance artifacts common in less sophisticated designs.
The core appeal lies in its modulation flexibility. The retained Sweeper mode provides envelope-controlled sweeps with adjustable release times, while the new LFO mode introduces waveform-based motion with sync capabilities. This dual approach accommodates both rhythmic, tempo-locked automation and expressive, envelope-driven filtering. The sidechain input functionality extends the plugin's utility beyond conventional filter use, enabling dynamic response to external sources - a feature that blurs the line between filtering and compression.

Sonically, Motion Filter operates across low-pass, high-pass, bandpass, and notch configurations with slopes ranging from 12 to 96 dB/octave. This breadth allows everything from subtle tonal shaping on acoustic sources to aggressive surgical EQ work. The high-order slopes perform notably well without introducing the phase smearing that can plague steep filters in less capable implementations.
The interface prioritizes functional clarity over visual excess, with direct parameter visualization aiding quick decision-making during sessions. For producers working with static material, repetitive loops, or tracks requiring dynamic tonal interest without reaching for synthesis, Motion Filter provides a refined alternative to the standard filter complement. It's most valuable for engineers who value precision and sonic stability at extreme settings.
