About this plugin
Phoscyon 2 represents D16 Group's comprehensive reimagining of 303 emulation, built on a substantially redesigned signal path that achieves remarkable fidelity to the original Roland "silver box." The plugin succeeds where many competitors falter by acknowledging what enthusiasts have long known: no two original 303 units sound identical. Calibration parameters let users dial in the specific tonal character of different hardware units, accessing service trim pots and undocumented circuit tweaks that expand the sonic palette far beyond the original's specifications.
The core synthesis architecture remains intuitive for anyone familiar with the hardware, but Phoscyon 2's real power lies in its expansions. A sophisticated built-in sequencer facilitates rapid pattern programming without menu diving, while modulation capabilities extend beyond typical 303 modifications. The vibrato feature, achieved through smoothed two-note tremolo reminiscent of creative performance techniques used by early acid pioneers, adds textural possibilities genuinely absent from the original hardware.
