About this plugin
CROWD is a vocal layering plugin that abandons the traditional multitrack doubling workflow in favor of spatial arrangement. Rather than duplicating vocals across eight tracks and manually nudging each copy, users select from five voice types - Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Baritone, and Bass - and position up to sixteen instances on a visual stage. The plugin's core innovation lies in treating each instance as an independent performer with separate pitch, timing, detune, and vibrato parameters, preventing the phase coherence issues that plague conventional stacking.
The spatial interface functions as the primary control surface. Vertical positioning controls level, horizontal positioning sets stereo placement, and depth manipulation (achieved through shift-dragging) applies both attenuation and reverb to simulate distance. This approach yields convincingly naturalistic choir arrangements without explicit routing or send manipulation. The included voice types follow harmonic logic - the Alto interval at a perfect fifth above the Tenor creates functional power chords that anchor arrangements across most keys.

CROWD addresses a genuine production friction point. Vocal stacking remains essential for contemporary pop, R&B, and hip-hop production, yet the manual process of copying, nudging, and preventing tonal collapse consumes significant session time. The pitch-synchronous processing engine handles the technical complexity of maintaining vocal integrity at different transpositions.
The plugin works best for producers who need rapid choir and gang vocal textures without deep architectural mixing. It's less suited for vocal engineers requiring granular control over each layer's processing chain. CROWD sits between basic doubler plugins and full arrangement tools, occupying practical middle ground for contemporary music production.
