About this plugin
Cherry Audio's Trident Mk III is a comprehensive multitimbral synthesizer that faithfully recreates the sonic architecture of the original 1981-1982 hardware instruments while substantially expanding their capabilities. The plugin organizes its sound engine into three independent sections - Synth, Brass, and Strings - each capable of 16-voice polyphony with dedicated mixers and modulation capabilities that exceed the originals. The Synth section operates polyphonically, while Brass and Strings function paraphonically, preserving the character of the source hardware while adding velocity sensitivity, aftertouch, and polyphonic aftertouch support for modern controllers.
The lower panel infrastructure addresses contemporary production workflows effectively. A 16x2 polyphonic step sequencer facilitates melodic and rhythmic sequencing without DAW dependencies, while dual arpeggiators provide harmonic movement options. Drag-and-drop split and layer zones enable quick configuration of multitimbral arrangements without deep menu diving. The motion section offers modulation possibilities beyond the hardware originals.

The effects architecture comprises 17 studio-quality processors arranged across four independent chains, including the characterful original BBD flander alongside modern tools like a compressor, 7-band EQ, ring modulator, lo-fi processor, and various reverbs and delays. The new Lushverb adds contemporary ambient capability.
The Trident Mk III suits producers seeking authentic vintage ensemble textures with modern playability and integration. It excels for cinematic scoring, electronic music production, and hybrid arrangements that blend period-accurate brass and string sounds with contemporary synthesis. Comprehensive MIDI mapping and 370+ presets provide immediate creative entry points while supporting deep customization for experienced sound designers.
