About this plugin
Cherry Audio's PS-3300 plugin faithfully models Korg's legendary 1977 polyphonic synthesizer, one of the most coveted instruments in analog synthesis history. With only approximately 50 units manufactured between 1977 and 1981, the original hardware remains inaccessible to most musicians, making this virtual recreation an essential tool for those seeking its distinctive sonic character.
The plugin's architecture reflects the original's radical design: three independent signal generator sections, each functioning as a complete polyphonic synthesizer with dedicated oscillators, filters, and envelopes. This tri-layer approach generates the PS-3300's signature richness - a thick, evolving timbral density that emerges from the interaction of multiple filter sweeps and modulation sources. The triple resonators per generator create complex harmonic movement that distinguishes this instrument from conventional polysynths.

The semi-modular design grants substantial patching flexibility through faithfully recreated input/output jacks, enabling creative modulation routing between the three generators and master panel resources. Dual LFOs, sample and hold circuits, and voltage-controllable resonators provide extensive sound-shaping possibilities. This architecture rewards deep exploration, yielding textures ranging from lush pads to rhythmically complex evolving sequences.
The PS-3300 suits producers and composers seeking sophisticated polyphonic synthesis with genuine analog character. Electronic music producers, film composers, and sound designers will find its capabilities particularly valuable for developing distinctive, layered timbres. While the interface demands familiarity with analog synthesis concepts, experienced users will appreciate the instrument's nuanced tonal palette and modulation depth - qualities that justified the original's elite status among synthesis aficionados.
