About this plugin
Brainworx's bx_panEQ represents a significant advancement in stereo-aware equalization, introducing discrete EQ control across the panoramic field rather than treating the stereo image as a monolithic entity. The plugin decouples frequency shaping from spatial positioning, enabling engineers to target specific instruments within a stereo mix without affecting adjacent elements in the soundstage.
The core architecture employs API-style Proportional Q filtering, where the Q factor automatically increases as gain deviates from unity, tightening the bandwidth during aggressive cuts or boosts. Each of the four parametric bands includes a Focus control that determines the width of effect across the stereo panorama, scaling from narrow surgical adjustments to broad tonal sweeps. Solo functionality isolates the processed signal difference, clarifying exactly what each band contributes to the mix.

The standout feature is the Panoramic Spectral Analyzer, which simultaneously displays frequency response and stereo positioning in real-time. This dual-axis visualization allows direct manipulation of both EQ and pan parameters within a single interface, streamlining workflow considerably. The resizable UI accommodates modern display sizes without compromising readability or usability.
bx_panEQ suits mixing and mastering engineers requiring transparent, spatially-aware processing. It excels at resolving frequency conflicts between panned instruments, recovering clarity in dense mixes, and correcting tonal imbalances within the stereo field. The plugin's precision positioning and analytical capabilities establish it as the category leader for mid-side and panoramic equalization work.
