About this plugin
The bx_hybrid V2 represents a refined approach to digital equalization that prioritizes the sonic character of analog circuits without sacrificing the precision and workflow advantages of software. Built on Brainworx's proprietary filter designs, the plugin combines 11 carefully selected EQ bands - including shelving filters, parametric peaks, notch filters, and high/low-pass options - with the ability to work cleanly up to 26kHz even in 44.1kHz sessions, a technical achievement that eliminates the aliasing artifacts that plague many digital EQs operating above the Nyquist frequency.
The interface integrates seamlessly with Avid's ICON mixing console, mapping directly to its EQ architecture and surround joysticks. This hardware integration is particularly valuable for the Bass Shift and Presence Shift tools, which offer a different workflow than traditional parametric EQing, excelling on sources like kick drums and acoustic instruments where broad frequency sculpting outperforms surgical peak targeting.

The stereo version includes M/S processing and a Mono Maker function, allowing for controlled width management that maintains low-end coherence without sacrificing the perceived spaciousness of higher frequencies. A dedicated mono variant addresses tracking and mixing applications where compatibility is paramount.
Auto Solo isolates individual bands for focused listening, while direct numerical input eliminates the imprecision of mouse dragging. These features make bx_hybrid V2 suitable for mixing engineers seeking an EQ that balances character with accuracy across any mixing scenario, from intimate vocals to full-frequency mastering work. It occupies a practical middle ground between purely colorful and purely clinical EQs.
