About this plugin
Oxygen addresses a specific mixing problem that traditional EQ struggles to solve: adding presence and air to a mix without introducing harshness or listener fatigue. Rather than relying on linear gain adjustment, the plugin employs a proprietary algorithm that enhances high-frequency content through harmonic enrichment and dynamic control, resulting in a character distinctly different from parametric or graphic EQ.
The core architecture centers on three distinct enhancement types - BITE, PRESENCE, and AIR - each targeting different aspects of upper-midrange and treble characteristics. A dual-mode compressor shapes the dynamic response, with PUNCH mode attacking transients aggressively for definition and SMOOTH mode softening dynamics for silk without sacrificing clarity. A CONTROL parameter intelligently modulates compression intensity across the algorithm, avoiding the static, sometimes artificial quality of conventional sidechain compression.

The saturation module adds subtle harmonic distortion that warms the high end, a technique borrowed from analog hardware but implemented with enough restraint to enhance rather than color indiscriminately. On the stereo version, a side enhancer widens high-frequency content effectively, though this feature works best on busses rather than individual sources where phase coherence matters.
Oxygen suits mixing engineers seeking refined high-end enhancement on vocals, drums, and master busses, particularly in genres where clarity without aggression is valued. The included presets from established producers like Henrik Udd and Forrester Savell provide useful starting points, though experienced users will likely gravitate toward minimal settings that let the plugin's core algorithm operate subtly. It's a specialized tool that excels within its narrow focus rather than a general-purpose presence booster.
