About this plugin
BFD Oblivion is a drum expansion for BFD3 that delivers pre-processed, production-ready sounds tailored specifically for heavy rock and metal applications. Rather than offering raw, unprocessed samples that demand extensive sound design, Oblivion presents drums that have already been shaped by experienced metal producers, allowing you to integrate them directly into dense arrangements without significant additional processing.
The expansion centers on three distinct versions of a Mapex Orion kit - a 22-inch kick paired with 10, 12, and 14-inch toms - complemented by Mapex brass and Brady jarrah wood snares in 13-inch variants. These acoustic sources anchor the expansion's sonic foundation. What distinguishes Oblivion is the treatment philosophy: each kit iteration receives progressively heavier processing, ranging from relatively natural to heavily compressed and sculpted versions designed for genres spanning post-metal, sludge, and progressive metal.

Cymbal selection includes appropriate choices from Bosphorus, Zildjian, and Paiste, available in both unprocessed and processed variants to match your kit selection. Kick drum options include both felt and plastic beater articulations, providing tonal flexibility within the heavy spectrum.
Oblivion targets producers and engineers already committed to heavier musical styles who value time efficiency and sonic cohesion. Rather than functioning as a comprehensive drum library, it operates as a specialized toolkit for a specific aesthetic. The expansion assumes familiarity with BFD3's architecture and appeals primarily to those seeking commercially competitive metal drum sounds that require minimal additional tweaking. It represents a strategic choice emphasizing workflow over flexibility.
