About this plugin
AYAIC's Ceilings Of Sound Pro represents a genuinely novel approach to dynamic equalization. Rather than manipulating individual frequency bands in isolation, the plugin inverts the traditional workflow by allowing users to draw a spectral ceiling - a visual boundary that constrains the frequency response - which then drives a 50 or 31-band graphic equalizer beneath it. This inversion of control proves surprisingly intuitive once grasped, offering a more intuitive visual representation of what you're actually doing to a mix.
The technical implementation is solid. Operating at zero latency with minimal CPU overhead, COS Pro maintains high precision across the frequency spectrum, particularly in the critical low-end region where phase accuracy matters most. The 15 user-definable ceiling bands, each capable of 49 different noise-slope variations, provide granular control without introducing unnecessary complexity. The "conform spectrum to ceiling" function effectively bridges the gap between creative intention and technical execution, automating the tedious work of fine-tuning individual faders.

This tool appeals most to mix and mastering engineers seeking faster, more visually-driven EQ workflows, though producers working with large track counts will appreciate its efficiency. The 700+ presets provide solid starting points, though the real utility emerges when crafting custom ceiling shapes for source-specific problems.
Among modern EQ plugins, COS Pro occupies a distinct position. It neither replaces surgical parametric EQs nor dynamic processors, but rather complements both by offering a faster, more gestural approach to broadband tonal shaping. For engineers willing to adopt its paradigm, it delivers measurable workflow acceleration.
