About this plugin
B00GA is a micro-sound rhythm and tone generator that translates the operational logic of vintage binary word generators into plugin form. Originally designed for telecommunications and logic circuit testing, these machines produce complex pulse sequences with remarkable precision and tonal character when repurposed for music. AudioThing's implementation captures this peculiar sonic identity while expanding its practical applications beyond its laboratory origins.
The plugin generates rhythmic material through two rows of binary sequencing, creating everything from tight, quantized clicks to evolving polyrhythmic textures. Its distinctive character emerges from how it handles timing - the word generator's precision paired with subtle harmonic content in seemingly minimal waveforms gives B00GA an oddly musical quality despite its test equipment heritage. Speed up the sequences and they collapse into drones with radio-frequency artifacts and textural depth that belie their algorithmic simplicity.

The included five effects - vintage-flavored processors with a radiophonic slant - provide essential tools for shaping and darkening the core sound. These aren't decorative; they're integral to extracting B00GA's full sonic range from experimental drones to more structured grooves suitable for production work.
B00GA serves producers seeking unconventional rhythmic sources and sound designers exploring granular, experimental textures. Unlike conventional drum machines or step sequencers, it occupies a unique space between percussion and synthesis. It's particularly effective when used to excite other resonant plugins, honoring its origins as a "pinger" of filtering and resonator units. For those looking beyond standard rhythmic tools, B00GA delivers legitimate sonic character grounded in legitimate hardware precedent.
