The Solidus VS8100 is Audiority's digital recreation of the Marshall Valvestate 8100, a 1991 solid-state amplifier that became foundational to extreme metal production throughout the 1990s. The original's hybrid architecture - combining solid-state circuitry with a 12AX7 tube driver on the distortion channel - produced a characteristically aggressive, articulate distortion that defined an era of death metal recorded sound.

This plugin accurately models that core topology, delivering the Valvestate's signature compressed, saturated midrange and tight low-end response. The Normal channel offers clean and crunch modes suitable for rhythm guitar fundamentals, while the Boost channel provides two distinct overdrive characters (OD1 and OD2) that capture the original's distortion personality with different aggression levels. The distortion character remains responsive to input dynamics and guitar tone controls, maintaining the original's dependency on source material - a trait that makes it less forgiving than modern modeled amps but more rewarding when properly dialed.
