About this plugin
CARBON stands as UJAM's most aggressive entry into the virtual guitarist category, distinguished by its commitment to heavily processed, heavily distorted guitar textures that prioritize sound design utility over traditional playing mechanics. Rather than simulating acoustic or clean electric tones, CARBON focuses on producing deliberately mangled, synthesizer-adjacent guitar sounds that remain musically coherent despite extreme processing.
The plugin's architecture centers on two core technologies: the Ultra Amp engine, which applies aggressive distortion while maintaining controllable dynamics, and the Future Distortion algorithm, which pushes saturation into territory that becomes nearly unrecognizable as guitar. The Layerer feature allows up to four simultaneous guitar instances within a single instrument, enabling everything from focused mono phrases to wall-of-sound textures that blur the line between guitar and synth pad.

CARBON's 75-algorithm effect rack operates as a true finishing stage rather than mere ornament, allowing dramatic spectral reshaping through filtering, modulation, and spatial processing. This makes the plugin equally effective for film scoring, game audio, and electronic music production where guitar textures need to integrate seamlessly alongside synthesizers and programmed drums.
The instrument excels for sound designers and producers who regard guitar as a textural component rather than a traditional instrument. Its particular strength lies in creating cinematic beds, aggressive rhythmic elements, and transitional textures that demand both rawness and precision. While not suitable for players seeking authentic guitar emulation, CARBON fills a specific gap in modern production toolkits where heavily designed guitar sounds remain more compelling than conventional synth alternatives.
