About this plugin
Audiority's Green Reaper GR9 is an analog-modeled overdrive plugin rooted in the circuitry of the Ibanez TS-808, the foundational overdrive pedal that defined smooth, mid-pushed saturation for generations of guitarists. Rather than simply emulating the original, Audiority has modeled the circuit architecture itself, then extended the concept with 12 distinct circuit variations that range from subtle harmonic enhancement to aggressive nonlinear distortion.
The plugin's core signal path centers on three fundamental controls - Drive, Tone, and Level - maintaining the TS-808's elegant simplicity while adding production-oriented features absent from the original hardware. A selectable noise gate handles unwanted low-level artifacts, while pre and post-effect gain stages provide flexible dynamic range management. The Mix control enables parallel processing, allowing you to blend dry and processed signals for tonal density without losing transient definition.

The "To Amp" output mode simulates the impedance characteristics of amplifier input stages, adding authenticity to both recorded guitar tracks and synthesizer processing. The resizable interface adapts to modern DAW workflows across multiple screen scales and resolutions.
This plugin serves experienced producers and engineers seeking transparent overdrive coloration that doesn't overwhelm source material. It excels on rhythm guitar, bass, and drums where subtle harmonic enrichment proves more valuable than obvious distortion. Among comparable tools, the Green Reaper GR9 distinguishes itself through its circuit modeling accuracy and systematic approach to tonal variation, making it both a faithful reproduction tool and a creative sound-design instrument.
