About this plugin
Audified's RZ062 plugin models a pair of rare 1960s German EQ modules originally designed for high-end broadcast consoles. Through circuit-level emulation of over 200 components including transformers and vacuum tubes, the plugin captures the sonic character of hardware that now commands $12,000+ per unit on the secondary market.
The RZ062 operates fundamentally differently from parametric designs. Rather than surgically targeting arbitrary frequencies, it employs fixed, sonically balanced control points that encourage decisive mixing decisions. The RZ062a variant rotates the entire frequency response around 650 Hz - raising bass simultaneously lowers treble in a complementary curve. The RZ062b diverges with a presence control offering four selectable frequencies between 1.4 and 4 kHz, each with independent gain adjustment. This approach suits engineers who value colored tonality over surgical precision.

The plugin's strength lies in its transformative character. The circuitry adds harmonic complexity and presence lift that sits naturally in mixes rather than feeling like obvious EQ intervention. Vocals gain dimension and punch; instruments develop coherent definition; full mixes benefit from cohesive warmth without brightness artifacts common in digital EQ.
Best suited for mixing and mastering professionals seeking vintage tonal coloration, the RZ062 works particularly well on lead vocals, drums, and two-bus processing where its fixed parameters encourage commitment over endless tweaking. While its fixed-frequency design limits precision correction work, that constraint actually defines its appeal - the RZ062 shapes rather than fixes, adding character that justifies its presence in contemporary workflows.
