About this plugin
Pure LoFi is Arturia's dedicated effects plugin for introducing degradation and vintage character into modern productions. Rather than attempting a comprehensive synthesis engine, it focuses entirely on the specific sonic palette required for lo-fi aesthetics - bitcrushing, sample rate reduction, harmonic distortion, and analog modeling - with genuine utility for both purists and producers working across genres.
The plugin's architecture centers on its LoFi processor, which offers six distinct degradation modes paired with six shaping parameters controlling the intensity and character of the effect. This approach yields results ranging from subtle tape wear to aggressive bitcrushing, making it versatile enough for subtle enhancement or dramatic transformation. The integrated hardware modes reference classic samplers and vintage equipment, adding historical context to the degradation process rather than applying generic digital destruction.

What distinguishes Pure LoFi from broader saturation and distortion tools is its specificity. Each parameter and mode was engineered with lo-fi's particular sonic vocabulary in mind - the warmth of tape saturation alongside the texture of sample rate reduction, rather than treating them as separate concerns. The inclusion of layered noise sources and foley elements positions it as more than a processor, though it ultimately serves that function.
The plugin suits producers working with chillhop, sample-based hip-hop, and ambient music, but also engineers seeking tasteful character on drums, strings, or vocal elements in conventional genres. Its straightforward interface and CPU-efficient design make it accessible without sacrificing depth, establishing it as a focused alternative to multiband saturation tools or dedicated hardware emulations when authentic lo-fi texture is the specific goal.
