About this plugin
Arturia's Modular V stands as a meticulously engineered software recreation of the legendary modular synthesizer that fundamentally transformed popular music in the 1960s and 70s. Rather than offering a simplified emulation, Arturia has constructed a fully realized instrument with nine oscillators, three filter slots, dual LFOs, and six envelope generators, providing the architectural complexity that defined the original hardware.
The sonic character reflects genuine modular behavior. Users can patch signal flows with complete freedom, allowing for intricate harmonic interactions and complex modulation chains that produce textures impossible on fixed-architecture synths. The inclusion of historically accurate modules like the Bode frequency shifter alongside Arturia innovations such as the formant filter and ring modulator expands sonic possibilities without compromising authenticity.

For sound designers and electronic composers seeking genuinely novel textures, Modular V excels. The 24-step sequencer and extensive modulation capabilities enable time-evolving patches that reward experimentation. The soft-clipping function manages harmonic density intelligently, preventing the digital artifacts that plague less sophisticated implementations.
The plugin scales from monophonic to 64-voice polyphonic operation, accommodating both synthesizer purists and producers requiring versatility. The 600-plus factory presets, crafted by experienced designers, provide both starting points and reference templates for patch construction.
Modular V occupies a unique position: it functions simultaneously as a serious production tool and an educational instrument that genuinely teaches modular synthesis principles. For engineers uncompromising about sonic depth and willing to engage with the instrument's demands, it remains the definitive software modular platform.
