About this plugin
Acid V is Arturia's circuit-accurate emulation of the Roland TB-303, the legendary bass synthesizer that became foundational to acid house and techno music. Rather than merely replicating the original hardware, Arturia has expanded the platform with modern production tools while preserving the sonic character that made the 303 iconic: punchy, resonant, and distinctly aggressive when pushed through the filter and resonance controls.
The core synthesis engine delivers the characteristic square and triangle waveforms alongside a 2-octave sub-oscillator, extending the low-end presence beyond the original's capabilities. The signature resonant low-pass filter remains the focal point, capable of producing the sweeping, squelchy sweeps and acid squeals that defined the genre. For authentic analog behavior, the hidden hatch panel allows micro-adjustments to component parameters, introducing subtle saturation and drift that mimics vintage unit characteristics.

The expanded 64-step sequencer represents the largest departure from the original, adding polymetric sequencing, pattern mutation, randomization, and scale quantization. This modernization makes Acid V practical for contemporary production while maintaining the step-sequencer workflow that shaped early electronic music.
Sonically, Acid V sits between purist emulation and creative instrument. The distortion module with 14 algorithms - from soft valve saturation to aggressive bit-crushing - provides essential tonal shaping. Four effect slots offer additional processing flexibility. With over 350 sequence presets and 150 synthesizer patches, the learning curve remains manageable.
Acid V is essential for producers working in house, techno, and electronic music, though its expressive filter makes it valuable across genres. It balances historical accuracy with practical workflow improvements, making it the most comprehensive software interpretation of this instrument.
