About this plugin
Applied Acoustics Systems' Strum GS-2 remains one of the most competent virtual guitar instruments for producers who need authentic acoustic and electric textures without tracking live players. The bundled packs variant includes the complete sound library alongside the core plugin, making it the most practical entry point for serious work.
The plugin's foundation rests on substantially revised physical modeling that addresses the complexities often missing from guitar synthesis. The string module now captures nuanced pick-to-string interaction and bridge coupling, yielding tonal characteristics that respond credibly to velocity and articulation changes. Both acoustic and electric instruments inhabit a single interface, with amp simulation and effects integrated throughout.

Where Strum GS-2 excels is in its strumming engine and chord voicing logic. Automatic chord recognition paired with an extensive MIDI loop library allows rapid progression construction without technical guitar knowledge, while the new keyboard mode accommodates users who want to generate lead lines or custom voicings. The loop mode provides production-ready rhythm figures across multiple styles, streamlining the workflow for background arrangement.
The addition of compressor, equalizer, and limiter directly addresses mix integration - critical for guitars competing in dense arrangements. The three-panel interface separates performance parameters, effects, and library access logically.
Strum GS-2 occupies the middle ground between pure sample libraries and deep modeling tools. It's best suited for producers prioritizing workflow efficiency over exhaustive real-time control, particularly those working across multiple genres where rapid guitar parts matter more than performance nuance.
