About this plugin
The VEQ-4K Orange represents an uncommon piece of audio history: a Japanese variation of the four-band parametric equalizer found on legendary British mixing consoles from the 1980s. Antelope Audio has modeled this hardware rarity with fidelity to its original sonic signature, bringing its particular character into the digital domain without requiring external processing hardware.
This is fundamentally a clean, transparent equalizer voiced around valve EQ principles similar to the Pultec design language. The four parametric bands provide surgical control across the frequency spectrum, while switchable low and high-pass filters handle extreme frequencies. A notable feature is the optional bell curve for the low-frequency band, which allows gentler shelving or tighter peak control depending on mix requirements. The Orange variation's circuit differs subtly from the original brown model, producing its own distinct tonal coloration - warmer in character and particularly respected in professional studios for maintaining clarity even under aggressive boosts.

The plugin ships in both native and Synergy Core real-time versions, the latter eliminating latency concerns for tracking applications. This makes it suitable for mastering work, mix bus duties, or individual track processing where both surgical precision and musical character matter equally.
The VEQ-4K Orange occupies particular value for engineers already familiar with hardware parametric EQs or those seeking the specific sonic signature of 1980s British console mixing. Its lineage and consistent use across numerous genres and generations of records establishes it as more than a vintage curiosity - it remains a legitimate tool for achieving professional results where transparency meets musical coloration.
