MFX Echos

MFX Echos brings the distinct sonic signatures of two complementary delay architectures to the DAW environment. Ported directly from ALM's hardware MFX module and pedal, these plugins preserve the original DSP implementations while expanding workflow flexibility through an intuitive interface.

The Digi-PCM engine models early digital delay units with crystalline fidelity and surgical control. Four routing modes - mono, ping pong, dual, and stereo - accommodate everything from subtle spatial effects to complex rhythmic patterns. The modulation section, which sweeps the delay time at variable depth and rate, introduces subtle warping without the artifacts of pure analog sources. Dual filter sections provide high and low cut across the delay line, essential for taming harshness in bright source material or adding definition to washy textures.

The Tape-Tech engine pursues an opposite direction, embracing the characteristic degradation of magnetic tape. Parameters like tape age, wow, and a built-in pitch shifter create convincing vintage character. The expanded playhead controls and looping functionality distinguish this from standard tape delay emulations, offering flexibility for creative sound design. The pitch shifter particularly justifies inclusion, enabling subtle detuning that enriches density without requiring separate processors.

Independent dry and wet faders provide precise mix control independent of plugin gain staging, a practical consideration often overlooked in effect design.
