About this plugin
AIR Music Technology's Instrument Expansion Pack 3 SELECT represents a focused toolkit for producers seeking specialized synthesis capabilities without the bloat of comprehensive bundles. This upgrade targets existing AIR users and previous expansion pack owners, delivering a curated collection of virtual instruments built on the company's proven synthesis architecture.
The standout inclusion is The Riser, a transition-focused synthesizer engineered specifically for electronic music, film scoring, and remix work. Rather than attempting general-purpose synthesis, it concentrates on building dramatic sweeps, swells, and builds through accessible design: three oscillators, 23 filter types including multi-pole and phase-shift configurations, and three LFO modes - free-running, tempo-synced, and modulation-focused. The Pumper effect adds rhythmic movement without requiring sidechain routing, while integrated delay and reverb provide spatial dimension.

The preset library of 300 professionally designed patches offers immediate utility without requiring deep synthesis knowledge, though the randomizer and invert mode encourage experimentation and discovery. The intuitive MIDI-Learn implementation makes hardware controller integration straightforward, valuable for live work or hands-on mixing sessions.
This upgrade suits electronic producers, film composers, and remix engineers who need specialized transition tools rather than general virtual instruments. It performs best in dedicated transition and build sections rather than serving as an all-purpose synth. Given AIR's heritage in producing industry-standard tools, the synthesis quality and CPU efficiency meet professional standards. For existing AIR users, this represents genuine functional expansion rather than incremental feature additions.
