About this plugin
DeVerberate 3 represents a significant advancement in reverb reduction technology, leveraging deep learning to deliver dialogue cleanup with minimal user intervention. Acon Digital has trained a neural network on thousands of professional voice recordings across diverse acoustic environments, enabling the plugin to automatically isolate and separate dialogue from reverberation with impressive accuracy. This approach sidesteps the limitations of traditional algorithmic reverb reduction, which often struggles with complex room characteristics or introduces artifacts when pushed aggressively.
The plugin maintains the manual algorithm from version 2 for music and non-dialogue sources, preserving flexibility for engineers working across different material types. Both algorithms decompose audio into direct sound and reverberated components, which users can recombine with independent level controls. This separation-based approach grants considerably more control than simple spectral subtraction methods.

An included Early Reflections Filter addresses a specific problem that standard reverb reduction often misses: the first reflections arriving from nearby boundaries. Using statistical impulse response estimation, this filter can attenuate these reflections without affecting the direct signal or later reverberation decay.
The comprehensive EQ toolset includes shelving filters with adjustable slopes up to -96 dB/octave and peaking filters with variable bandwidth, allowing surgical frequency-dependent reduction. Real-time frequency spectrum visualization of input, output, and estimated reverb provides clear feedback during processing.
DeVerberate 3 is essential for dialogue-heavy post-production and podcast work, where reverb removal directly impacts intelligibility. While not a replacement for proper recording technique, it delivers practical results for rescuing problematic takes. The upgrade path offers genuine value for existing users, particularly those working primarily with dialogue material.
