About this plugin
DeBleed:Drums addresses one of mixing engineering's persistent technical challenges: unwanted microphone bleed on individual drum tracks. The plugin uses neural network analysis trained on extensive drum recordings to identify and attenuate spill while preserving the target drum's transient characteristics and resonance. This represents a meaningful advancement over traditional gating approaches, which often produce artifacts like choked hits or missing ghost notes when tackling aggressive bleed scenarios.
The tool combines AI-driven source separation with DSP-based transient protection. Its smart triggering logic evaluates threshold behavior across individual drum elements, whether kick or snare, allowing the algorithm to make context-aware decisions about what constitutes desirable signal versus unwanted bleed. The real-time processing capability means engineers can audition results immediately without freezing stems or bouncing alternatives, streamlining the mixing workflow considerably.

DeBleed:Drums is most valuable for engineers working with multi-microphone drum recordings where phase coherence and separation are priorities. This includes those tracking in rooms with acoustic limitations, engineers inheriting problematic sessions, and professionals seeking faster mixing turnaround without resorting to sample replacement or extensive gate automation. The plugin delivers particularly transparent results on snare and tom tracks, where bleed from cymbals and other kit elements commonly degrades clarity.
Compared to conventional noise gates or invasive EQ-based approaches, DeBleed:Drums offers measurably superior results with minimal manual intervention. While no algorithm handles every scenario perfectly, the plugin represents a genuinely practical tool for contemporary studio work rather than another marketing-driven feature.
