About this plugin
XLN Audio's XO Expansion for Afrobeats provides a rhythm-focused toolkit designed specifically for contemporary African and diaspora-influenced music production. Rather than a conventional sample pack, this expansion functions as a fully sequenced beat library within the XO drum sequencer, offering producers transparent access to percussion arrangement and groove construction.
The expansion contains 75 editable presets built from 150+ handcrafted samples spanning congas, djembes, shakers, and supporting percussion elements. The sonic palette reflects Afrobeats' characteristic blend of traditional African rhythms, dancehall, and electronic production, with samples recorded and processed for cohesive integration in modern production contexts. Each preset reveals complete beat architecture within XO's sequencer, allowing users to deconstruct groove patterns and understand the layering logic that drives commercial Afrobeats tracks.

The core utility lies in XO's sound-swapping engine, which enables rapid sample substitution across similar categories without disrupting sequence timing or arrangement. This workflow proves particularly valuable for producers iterating quickly between tonal options or experimenting with variation strategies.
XO Expansion: Afrobeats best serves producers working in contemporary Afrobeats, Amapiano, Dancehall, and related genres who need production-ready percussion sequences paired with flexibility for customization. The approach distinguishes itself from static sample libraries through its emphasis on sequence transparency and real-time editing capabilities, positioning it as a learning tool alongside a sound source. The preset quality and genre specificity give it credible standing within the competitive expansion market, though success depends on whether users value pedagogical access to beat structure alongside sonic content.
