About this plugin
XLN Audio's Studio Pop ADpak for Addictive Drums 2 delivers a meticulously sampled Sonor Designer kit paired with Sabian cymbals, capturing the punchy, articulate character that defined countless pop and rock productions over the past two decades. The kit emphasizes controlled dynamics and clarity, making it particularly effective in dense mixes where kick and snare definition matter.
The sonic signature centers on a 24x18" kick drum with controlled resonance and a focused 14x5" snare featuring that distinctive crack without excessive sustain. The five-piece tom configuration provides usable tuning options across a practical range, while the cymbal selection - including 14" AAX Studio hihats, 20" HHX Manhattan Jazz and 21" HHX Groove rides, plus three crashes - skews toward controlled wash with articulate stick definition. The addition of a 10" splash and LP Rock cowbell rounds out a versatile palette.

The included presets demonstrate genuine production thinking rather than surface tweaking. Ranging from transparent, minimal processing to heavily compressed and distorted variations, they acknowledge real-world usage patterns while remaining customizable for engineers who prefer deeper parameter control. This approach respects both the kit's underlying quality and the unpredictability of different musical contexts.
Studio Pop suits producers and engineers working in pop, alternative rock, and contemporary music where punchy, readable drums complement detailed arrangements. While the kit's character is relatively specific - it won't satisfy those seeking dark, roomy, or heavily colored tones - its proven track record and sonic directness make it a reliable choice for professional work.
