About this plugin
WIDE is a stereo imaging and mono-to-stereo upmixing plugin that departs significantly from conventional widening approaches. Rather than employing M/S processing, modulation effects, or differential EQ across channels, WIDE employs spectral feature extraction and resynthesis to identify and reconstruct audio content suitable for spatial distribution. The plugin analyzes incoming signals to isolate time-frequency components amenable to widening, then generates complementary material that spreads across the stereo field while preserving the integrity of the original audio.
This technical approach yields meaningful advantages. The absence of traditional widening artifacts - phase distortion, comb filtering, and tonal coloration - makes WIDE suitable for mastering contexts where transparency is critical. The plugin maintains full mono compatibility by design, as the widened content is synthetically generated rather than derived from phase manipulation of existing material.

The mono-to-stereo algorithm offers particularly refined results, creating convincing spatial dimensionality from mono sources without the hollow character typical of upmixing tools. This functionality extends utility across music production and film post-production, where converting mono dialogue, effects, or music elements to stereo often proves necessary.
WIDE includes frequency-dependent control, allowing engineers to apply widening selectively across the spectrum. The workflow is notably efficient, reflecting Zynaptiq's attention to practical usability alongside technical sophistication.
For mixing engineers and mastering professionals seeking transparent stereo enhancement without compromise, WIDE represents a substantive alternative to traditional widening tools. Its technical foundation and carefully controlled output make it particularly valuable in professional contexts where artifacts and coloration carry real consequences.
