WIDE addresses a fundamental challenge in stereo mixing: achieving genuine width without sacrificing mono compatibility or introducing phase artifacts. The plugin uses allpass decorrelation across 40 ERB-warped frequency bands, with per-band correlation feedback that monitors and prevents mono phase collapse at every frequency. This approach avoids the cheap psychoacoustic tricks that plague many stereo wideners, instead applying what the developers call a "psychoacoustic width curve" based on perceptual research into how human hearing responds to stereo information across frequencies.

The three stereo modes serve distinct purposes. The default STEREO mode applies natural widening through decorrelation. M/S mode allows direct manipulation of mid-side balance for surgical control. HAAS mode uses delay-based widening for those situations where traditional phase-based expansion falls short. A FOCUS knob lets you isolate widening to specific frequency ranges, useful when you need width only in the highs or mids without affecting the entire spectrum.

At under 3% CPU load, WIDE operates efficiently enough for use across multiple tracks. The plugin includes a MONO button for instant compatibility checking, eliminating guesswork during mixing.
