About this plugin
Waves' OneKnob Pumper addresses a genuine workflow friction in modern music production: sidechain ducking typically demands routing auxiliary signals, setting threshold and ratio parameters, and dialing in envelope times. This plugin eliminates that setup burden by offering a single control that triggers rhythmic volume modulation locked to your session's tempo.
The plugin ships with ten preprogrammed rhythmic patterns spanning from thirty-second note divisions to full-bar cycles, covering the range most relevant to electronic music production. A dedicated offset parameter lets you shift the pumping phase relative to the beat, enabling counter-rhythmic effects without manual automation. The sonic character trades surgical precision for immediacy - OneKnob Pumper delivers the hypnotic, predictable ducking sound synonymous with EDM rather than transparent dynamic control.

What distinguishes this tool from comparable plugins is its deliberate simplification. For producers prioritizing speed and immediacy over parameter depth, that constraint becomes an asset. The plugin functions effectively across multiple contexts beyond dance music: adding subtle pulse to pad layers, tightening drum buses with discrete movement, or injecting rhythmic character into guitar arrangements and synthesizer textures.
The single-knob interface requires minimal cognitive overhead, making it accessible to less experienced producers while remaining useful for specialists seeking quick AU bus processing without extensive automation. Its limitations are intentional design choices rather than deficiencies. Experienced engineers will recognize when a full-featured compressor with sidechain capabilities makes more sense, but for rapid creative iteration and straightforward pumping effects, OneKnob Pumper's focused approach delivers legitimate value.
