Product Overview
Nx Germano Studios New York brings the acoustics of one of recording's most consequential rooms into your headphone monitoring chain. Built on Waves' Nx spatial audio platform, the plugin models the exact sonic characteristics of Germano Studio 1's control room, the legendary space formerly known as The Hit Factory where David Bowie, Stevie Wonder, Kendrick Lamar, and countless others have tracked and mixed.
The core technology reconstructs three-dimensional room acoustics through headphone playback, addressing a fundamental problem in modern production: most engineers mix on headphones, yet headphones inherently collapse spatial information. Nx Germano solves this by simulating how sound behaves in a properly treated, acoustically sophisticated mixing environment. You get reliable depth perception, accurate panning cues, and genuine low-end response that headphones alone cannot deliver.
The plugin includes three monitor sets modeled from Germano's actual control room: Exigy S412G, NS10, and Germano A2. You can select between them based on your mixing priorities. Beyond room modeling, the plugin includes EQ correction profiles for over 270 headphone models, further normalizing monitoring inconsistencies. Optional head tracking via webcam or dedicated hardware enhances spatial accuracy by accounting for your physical position.
Nx Germano excels for engineers mixing remotely or on a tight budget who need confidence in their spatial decisions without investing in treated acoustic spaces. It's particularly effective for hip hop and R&B mixing, where the room's bold, modern character aligns with contemporary production aesthetics. While no plugin fully replaces a great room, Nx Germano establishes a tangible acoustic reference standard across any headphone setup.
