About this plugin
The Manny Marroquin EQ distills the accumulated knowledge of a 10-time Grammy winner into a streamlined, four-band parametric plugin that eschews surgical precision in favor of musical decision-making. Rather than offering continuously variable frequencies, each band locks into five fixed frequency selections derived from Marroquin's actual hardware collection: the SSL 9080 XL K, Neve 1073, API 550B, Quad 8, Motown, and Avalon 2055. This constraint mirrors how professional mixers actually work with vintage consoles and outboard gear, where hardware limitations become creative tools.
The plugin's appeal lies in its specificity. These aren't arbitrary frequencies but deliberately chosen points from gear that defined decades of hit records. Users get low-end character from the Neve and Quad 8, midrange presence from the API and 1073, silky highs from the Avalon, and surgical filtering courtesy of the SSL. With 34 total frequency curves and accompanying boost/cut controls, the interface remains intuitive while delivering the sonic signatures of classic mixing chains.

Suited for mixing engineers seeking faster workflow without deep EQ philosophy, the Manny Marroquin EQ appeals equally to producers refining individual tracks or shaping bus processing. The generous preset library - compiled by Marroquin alongside respected engineers like Tony Maserati - provides immediate context for how to apply these curves across vocals, drums, bass, and instruments.
At minimal CPU overhead, the plugin rewards both experienced ears seeking familiar vintage tones and less seasoned mixers learning from embedded professional judgment. It represents a pragmatic middle ground between transparent parametric design and intentionally opinionated tone shaping.
