Beatbox represents a comprehensive drum machine emulation library for the Flite platform, offering 30 meticulously sampled vintage and contemporary percussion instruments spanning the 70s through modern era. The expansion captures machines across the full spectrum of drum machine evolution - from early analogue accompaniment units through EPROM-based 80s workhorses to contemporary hybrid systems like the Perkons HD-01.

The sampling methodology distinguishes this tool from algorithmic drum synthesis. Rather than modeling circuits or algorithms, Wavea recorded extensive multi-sample sets from original hardware, capturing each drum machine's sonic character across all available sound variations. This approach preserves the harmonic complexity and irregularities inherent to vintage circuitry and analogue signal paths. The samples were sourced from a curated collection spanning the Linn LM2 and 9000, the entire TR series (505, 606, 626, 707, 727, 909), Oberheim DX, Nord Drum, and several rarer units like the MFB 522 and Rhythm Ace.

Beatbox suits producers and engineers seeking authentic period-correct drum tones without committing to hardware acquisition or the associated maintenance. The eight customizable macros per preset enable real-time tonal manipulation beyond simple sample playback, allowing subtle character modification within the sampled machine's sonic envelope.
