About this plugin
Wave Alchemy's Tape Toys Triaz Expansion delivers a focused toolkit for producers seeking authentic lo-fi textures rooted in vintage cassette aesthetics and toy instrument sonics. Built as an expansion for the Triaz drum sampler, it provides 864 characterful samples organized across 80 production-ready presets that prioritize hands-on customization over preset-and-forget convenience.
The sonic palette emphasizes intentional degradation - tape saturation, subtle wow and flutter, and the kind of frequency coloration that comes from budget recording equipment rather than pristine studio gear. Drum hits carry satisfying weight despite their lo-fi treatment, with kicks and snares that punch through mix without sacrificing warmth. The collection includes expressive percussion layers, shimmering hi-hats with natural decay, and melodic loops that function as both rhythmic anchors and atmospheric texture.

Triaz's architecture allows meaningful parameter control over individual drum elements, enabling producers to push samples beyond their preset intentions. You can layer sounds, adjust tape characteristics, and generate MIDI or audio exports - useful for producers who value flexibility alongside sonic character.
The package justifies its scope through comprehensive supplementary content: 922 drum stems extracted from presets, 960 kit one-shots, and 80 drum loops, all delivered as WAV files for DAW compatibility. This dual-format approach - Triaz expansion plus full sample library - accommodates both plugin users and those working in sampling workflows.
Tape Toys suits producers working in lo-fi hip hop, chillhop, and experimental beat-making contexts. It competes effectively against comparable drum sample packs by offering deeper customization through Triaz's architecture, though commitment to that ecosystem remains essential.
