About this plugin
Abstract Currents positions itself as a spectral effects processor that bridges granular synthesis and convolution-based processing. Rather than functioning as a conventional reverb or delay, the plugin analyzes incoming audio and generates evolving texture clouds derived from the input material itself. The core engine segments audio into micro-grains, applies spectral morphing across multiple parameters, and reconstructs the signal through layered convolution matrices. This approach yields results that sit distinctly apart from traditional time-based effects.
The sonic character skews toward ambient and generative territories. Even on conservative settings, Abstract Currents introduces a subtle dreamlike quality to sources, stretching transients into shimmering clouds while preserving harmonic content. Aggressive parameter sweeps produce disintegrative, almost granular-synthesis-like textures that retain musical coherence despite their abstraction. The wet signal never feels detached from the source; rather, it exists as a mutated parallel stream.

This tool serves best alongside creative mixing approaches - particularly in electronic music production, experimental scoring, and sound design contexts where effects justify their presence through character rather than convention. Straightforward mixing scenarios rarely demand its particular coloration, though judicious automation can enhance certain cinematic applications.
Compared to competitors like Valhalla VintageVerb or iZotope Spectral Reverb, Abstract Currents trades immediate recognizability for deeper sonic peculiarity. It occupies territory more honestly claimed by dedicated granular tools and spectral processors, making direct comparison misleading. The plugin succeeds entirely within its intended scope, though it requires composers willing to explore beyond conventional reverb logic.
