About this plugin
MOJO 2: Baritone Saxophone from Vir2 Instruments is a comprehensively sampled solo horn plugin designed for contemporary and historical jazz, rock, and pop contexts. Built on recordings from Vir2's extensive MOJO 2 library, this instrument captures the baritone sax's distinctive woody low-end and articulate voice across 13 articulations including sustains, staccato, stabs, bends, octave runs, doits, rises, shakes, trills, swells, crescendos, and falls. Each articulation includes up to four velocity layers and three round robins, totaling over 8GB of uncompressed samples.
The plugin's technical foundation rests on true legato sampling, where transitions between every note interval were individually recorded to achieve lifelike melodic passages. Three microphone positions plus a pre-mixed hybrid option offer sonic flexibility, from close-mic'd definition to distant, roomy character. Four era presets allow tonal shifting across different recording standards, useful for matching specific aesthetic periods or production styles.

Practical controls include variable ensemble sizing from solo to ten-piece voicing with humanization and stereo spread adjustment, swell and crescendo length manipulation from one to sixteen beats, articulation speed control, and keynoise blending for additional human character. The bundled effects suite enables further customization without external processing.
MOJO 2: Baritone Saxophone serves producers and composers seeking a credible solo baritone for sequenced horn parts. While not a sample playback library requiring manual editing, its extensive articulation set and legato implementation position it competitively against comparable solo wind plugins, particularly for users already invested in the MOJO 2 ecosystem or requiring quick, reliable saxophone character without extensive sound design.
