About this plugin
Boost represents a fundamental rethinking of limiter design, moving away from the adaptive envelope-follower architecture that has dominated compressor plugins for decades. Instead of mimicking hardware behavior from the 1960s, UrsaDSP employed what they call Trajectory Technology - a fresh algorithmic approach that controls peak levels without the characteristic transient distortion associated with conventional limiters.
The plugin excels in transparency. Where most limiters introduce artifacts during gain reduction, Boost maintains remarkable sonic cleanliness even under aggressive limiting. This makes it invaluable on masters and stereo buses where coloration becomes immediately obvious. The ultra-low distortion floor is technically verifiable rather than marketing speak - the plugin genuinely doesn't degrade your source material the way traditional designs do.

The Focus parameter bridges upward and brick-wall limiting styles, offering useful tonal flexibility without requiring parallel compression workarounds. The mid-side mode addresses a genuine mixing need, allowing independent control of center and side information. For those seeking character rather than transparency, the Emphasis control adds psychoacoustic loudness enhancement to transients without raising peak levels - a clever separation of perceived and technical loudness.
True Peak metering and inter-sample clipping prevention address real-world streaming and mastering concerns. The max gain control preserves reverb tail dynamics, preventing the compressed-tail artifacts common in other limiters.
Boost is essential for mastering engineers and mix engineers working in loudness-restricted environments. It's equally suited to producers who value transparent dynamics control over colorful compression. Among modern limiters, it stands apart in its technical approach and audible lack of compromise.
