About this plugin
Uncanny is a creative effects plugin designed for cinematic sound design and music production, built around spectral processing and granular manipulation techniques. The tool excels at generating unsettling, otherworldly textures by decomposing audio into its frequency components and reassembling them in non-linear ways. Rather than traditional EQ or compression, Uncanny works through time-stretching, pitch-shifting, and granular stuttering applied across multiple frequency bands simultaneously, creating artifacts that sit somewhere between glitchy and ethereal.
The plugin's strength lies in its ability to preserve intelligibility while rendering material genuinely alien. It works particularly well on vocal recordings, orchestral swells, and ambient sources, where its processing adds dimension without obvious distortion. Sound designers working in horror, sci-fi, and experimental genres will find it especially valuable, though forward-thinking producers across electronic and contemporary classical music have adopted it for adding movement and complexity to static elements.

Compared to granular tools like Grain Science or spectral processors like iZotope RX, Uncanny occupies a middle ground - more musically intuitive than pure research tools, yet deeper than consumer-oriented creative plugins. Its learning curve is moderate, rewarding experimentation with genuinely surprising results.
