The instrument operates as an intelligent beat sequencer that generates drum patterns across 60 musical styles, encompassing 1,380 distinct rhythmical variations. Rather than requiring manual pattern programming, users select from 200 presets organized by musical context, then customize patterns through straightforward controls governing swing, humanization, and dynamic feel.

The core strength of PHAT 2 lies in its accessibility without compromising sonic flexibility. The plugin includes five drum kit variations that can be edited at the individual voice level, allowing producers to adjust kick, snare, hi-hat, and percussion elements independently.
