About this plugin
Virtual Guitarist IRON 2 represents UJAM's refined approach to guitar synthesis and performance emulation, offering a streamlined alternative to traditional amp modeling or sample-based guitar plugins. The instrument combines meticulously sampled performances from a professional session guitarist with a curated selection of 30 styles spanning rock subgenres, generating over 350 playable phrases that respond naturally to timing and dynamic input.
The plugin's architecture separates signal flow into distinct processing stages. Thirty stomp box emulations function as pre-amp effects, meaning they influence how the virtual amp responds to input dynamics, a detail that affects perceived aggression and character. The Finisher section applies 60 post-amp multi-effect chains, handling ambience, spacing, and final tonal shaping. Drop D tuning and doubling modes add weight without requiring manual re-recording.

IRON 2 suits producers and composers prioritizing workflow speed over deep customization. The fixed signal chain and pre-selected sonic palette eliminate decision fatigue, making it particularly valuable in commercial music production where rapid iteration matters more than sonic esoterica. Experienced engineers will recognize its limitations compared to full amp modeling platforms, yet appreciate the intentional constraints that facilitate quick prototype development.
The plugin integrates within UJAM's Virtual Band ecosystem, functioning cohesively alongside Virtual Bassist ROWDY and Virtual Drummer BRUTE for rapid arrangement sketching. While not positioned as a replacement for convolution-based amp simulation or boutique guitar processing chains, IRON 2 occupies a practical middle ground: sonically credible, operationally efficient, and designed for producers who value musical results over technical granularity.
