About this plugin
UJAM's DRUMS plugin grants access to Hans Zimmer's curated percussion library, recorded at Remote Control Studios and shaped by decades of film scoring experience. This isn't a sample pack dressed up as software; it's a performance engine designed to accelerate orchestral percussion writing for composers and producers working across film, television, and hybrid music production.
The core strength lies in its 53 playing styles, each containing 23 ready-made phrases totaling 1,219 usable sequences. This breadth covers everything from taikos and doumbeks to orchestral bass drums and field snares - instruments that typically demand specialized knowledge and expensive session musicians. One-shot hits and articulations provide flexibility for custom arrangement work, while the engine handles tempo sync automatically within your DAW.

The interface prioritizes workflow efficiency. Rather than wrestling with sample placement and velocity curves, you select a style, choose a phrase, and adjust parameters through UJAM's streamlined control surface. The Finisher FX section adds final-stage character without requiring external processing. For composers working against deadlines, this represents genuine time savings.
The plugin suits producers who need credible orchestral percussion without maintaining a sample library the size of a film studio archive. However, experienced engineers may find the predetermined nature of phrases limiting for highly specific compositional requirements. The bundle's crossgrade pricing makes sense for those already embedded in UJAM's ecosystem, though it requires existing paid product ownership.
Sound quality reflects its pedigree - these are legitimate film scoring tools, not consumer-grade drum machines.
