About this plugin
RetroMod Digital 1 captures the sonic DNA of 1980s hybrid synthesis at a critical inflection point when analog circuitry and early digital wavetable engines coexisted on the same stage. Tracktion's sampling methodology, utilizing professional-grade conversion via Apogee and Phoenix Audio gear, preserves the tonal characteristics of five seminal instruments: the Prophet VS, Korg DW8000, Kawai K3, Kawai K5, and Yamaha TX81Z. The result is a 5.9 GB library of 10,000 samples organized into 367 usable presets that authentically reproduce the harmonic complexity and characteristic artifacts of period hardware.
The sonic palette spans the essential textures that defined 80s production: thick, evolving pads with rich harmonic movement; bell-like electric pianos with natural decay characteristics; shimmering plucked timbres with metallic resonance; and aggressive, textured basses that retain the aggressive character of digital oscillators. What distinguishes this collection from generic period emulation is the attention to how these machines interacted with contemporary recording techniques and signal chains.

RetroMod Digital 1 suits producers and engineers seeking authentic period texture without deep technical knowledge of vintage hardware operation. Rather than targeting hardware enthusiasts or sound designers seeking complete synthesis control, this plugin functions as a professional shortcut to legitimately sourced 80s character. For remix work, retro-inflected scoring, or production seeking vintage hybridization without pretense, the library provides substantive sonic material. The plugin's value lies in its documentary approach to sampling rather than modeling, offering direct access to the original machines' actual output.
