About this plugin
Hatz is a specialized MIDI-driven hi-hat and snare roll generator that addresses a genuine production bottleneck: the time-intensive process of programming complex rhythmic patterns in the DAW piano roll. Rather than sequencing individual notes, users trigger rolls and stutters via MIDI input, adjusting repeat rates in real time with pitch-bend style control. The plugin ships with 550+ processed hi-hat and percussion samples across nine categories, though the real utility emerges when pairing Hatz with your own one-shots.
The core sound design toolkit is comprehensive. Four independent layers allow additive complexity, while a built-in effects chain including reverb, delay, bitcrusher, saturation, and multimode filters handles character shaping. The filter designer enables sophisticated modulation, and stereo widening adds dimension. Gain, pitch, pan, and sample start/endpoint controls provide essential detail work. Random velocity and sample-start functions inject organic variation without manual intervention.

The workflow benefits producers across trap, R&B, and EDM, where hi-hat precision matters. Dual half-time and double-time modes sync with DAW tempo, and mono/poly toggling prevents note overlap artifacts. Thirty factory patterns plus customizable configurations offer reasonable starting points, though experienced users will recognize the value in the intelligent randomizer for generating unexpected variations.
Hatz sits between sample library and effect, functioning as a specialized performance tool rather than a replacement for deeper sound design. For engineers already comfortable with MIDI workflow, it genuinely accelerates production. The 120 presets and preset-sharing system suggest an active user base developing the plugin's sonic potential beyond factory defaults.
