About this plugin
Sugar Bytes' Aparillo stands as a comprehensive FM synthesis platform designed for producers seeking textural complexity and evolving soundscapes. The 16-voice architecture employs dual FM operators capable of generating intricate harmonic structures through multiple complexity and ratio modes, supported by wave folding, formant shifting, and spectral manipulation. This layered approach to waveform generation yields sounds that develop organically across time rather than remaining static.
The Orbiter function distinguishes Aparillo from conventional synthesizers. Operating as a gravitational modulation engine, it measures distances to 15 assignable targets within the synth, enabling intuitive one-touch morphing between sonic states. Musicians can animate these orbital movements or trigger 128 preset positions via MIDI, creating dynamic parameter sweeps that feel natural rather than robotic. The scale editor further expands harmonic possibilities through modulatable unison spreads, constructing dense chords with custom tuning relationships.

The effects architecture transcends typical supplementary processing. The Spacializer employs delay-based pitch resonance for wave-guide synthesis, effectively functioning as a synthesis layer rather than mere decoration. The multi-mode filter offers unconventional options like the "Dirt" mode - a gritty, spectrally aggressive high-pass, band-pass, and low-pass variant. Complementary tools include comb filtering, vowel shaping, synchronized delays, and a high-quality reverb.
Aparillo proves most valuable for sound designers, film composers, and electronic producers requiring evolving, textural soundscapes with precise control. While the learning curve demands engagement, the resulting sonic palette justifies the investment. NKS integration with Komplete Kontrol and Maschine enables workflow optimization for template-based production environments.
