About this plugin
Studio Drum Lab delivers a curated collection of acoustic drum samples recorded with precision instrumentation at Love Electric Studios in North London. The library captures 350+ individual hits across kick, snare, tom, and percussion elements, each tracked through a signal chain of vintage outboard gear: Neumann U67 and C414 condensers paired with Royer ribbon microphones, Neve preamps, and API 2500 compression on overheads. The 24-bit, 44.1kHz recordings preserve the natural transients and harmonic character of a professional drum kit recorded in a controlled acoustic environment.
The plugin's core strength lies in its macro-controlled mic mixing approach. Rather than forcing users into predetermined drum sounds, Studio Drum Lab provides six customizable presets with independent faders controlling room ambience, overhead presence, close-miked detail, and ambient reflections. This architecture gives producers genuine mixing autonomy without requiring external processing chains.

The multi-velocity implementation spans up to eight layers per drum element, from pianissimo through fortissimo, enabling naturalistic dynamic response across the velocity range. The sample set includes standard kit components alongside auxiliary percussion - claps, crashes, stick hits, rim shots, and rides - sufficient for building complete drum arrangements.
Studio Drum Lab is purpose-built for producers working within indie-dance, alternative rock, and breakbeat-oriented genres where acoustic drum character matters. It suits engineers prioritizing flexibility over preset convenience and those seeking an alternative to heavily processed or synthetic drum libraries. The tool functions exclusively within Flite v1.4, limiting broader compatibility but ensuring optimized integration within that environment.
