About this plugin
Mercury Boys' Choir Micro is a focused sampling library capturing the distinctive timbre of 25 young singers from the Pacific Boychoir, recorded in the same acoustically favorable hall that yielded Soundiron's larger ensemble libraries. Rather than attempting comprehensive coverage, this Micro edition targets essential articulations: sustained and staccato versions of "Ah" and "Oo" vowels in both piano and forte dynamics, plus the liturgical sustains "Kyrie" and "Eleison" with tempo synchronization.
The recording approach emphasizes clarity through close microphone positioning while preserving the hall's transparent natural reverberation, resulting in a bright, open character that avoids the excessive dryness of studio-isolated vocals. This sonic signature works particularly well in orchestral contexts where the ensemble needs presence without overwhelming other instruments.

The Kontakt interface provides serious production tools beyond simple playback. Attack and release controls, transient offset adjustment, and dynamic swelling allow detailed articulation shaping. The dual-layer architecture facilitates real-time blending between vowels and articulations, a practical feature for realistic choral writing. Tempo-sync capability extends the liturgical articulations into rhythmic contexts. The included impulse response reverb bank featuring 50+ convolutions across cathedral, church, and creative spaces adds substantial spatial flexibility.
The 17 exclusive FX presets distinguish this library from larger collections, demonstrating unconventional applications that justify the compact format. Mercury Boys' Choir Micro suits composers seeking authentic boy choir textures without the expense and storage demands of comprehensive libraries. It excels in orchestral, film, and sacred music contexts where tonal purity and youth characterize the desired sound.
