About this plugin
Origins Vol.6: Muted Guitar & Harmonics represents Sonuscore's approach to guitar-based texturing through the lens of their MAD (Multi-Arpeggio Designer) engine. The plugin pairs two distinctly processed electric guitars - muted palm strings and harmonic overtones - designed by composer Mats Lundgren of Pole Position Production. This collaboration brings production experience from high-profile game scores (Just Cause 2, Mad Max) into the plugin architecture.
The muted guitar layer delivers a warm, compressed character suitable for anchoring harmonic structures. Its restrained frequency response and controlled sustain provide stability without assertiveness. The harmonics layer complements this foundation with shimmer and air, creating complementary tonal density. Rather than functioning as a traditional effects processor, this instrument generates evolving textures through its dual arpeggiator system, which prioritizes musically coherent pattern generation over algorithmic randomization.

The MAD engine forms the plugin's technical center. Two synchronized arpeggiators allow interlocking rhythmic structures that build complexity through interaction rather than individual pattern density. Users can either navigate 100+ presets or design custom arpeggio sequences, though the preset architecture suggests this tool targets producers seeking immediate inspiration over granular parameter control.
This plugin serves producers working in electronic, cinematic, and modern pop contexts where guitar textures support rather than lead. It requires the full KONTAKT version, positioning it as a specialized addition to existing NI workflows rather than a standalone solution. Among contemporary guitar-based texture tools, it occupies a specific niche combining guitar authenticity with electronic pattern generation, best suited for those already comfortable within the KONTAKT ecosystem.
