Softstruck brings the unconventional recording techniques pioneered during Sonora Cinematic's felt piano sessions directly into plugin form. Rather than applying felt to instrument hardware, the library captures guitars played with ultra-soft felt picks typically reserved for nylon instruments, yielding a distinctly muted, brushed tonal character that sits comfortably between traditional palm muting and heavily diffused fingerpicking.

The plugin draws from three strategically chosen instruments: a bright single-coil design darkened substantially by the felt technique, a darker chambered guitar with P90-style pickup and flatwound strings, and a neck-pickup-heavy singlecut known for its low-end emphasis. Each was recorded through dual amplifier chains and two separate pedalboard signal paths - one emphasizing lush ambience, the other pursuing experimental textures. This multi-path recording strategy provides genuine tonal variation rather than simple layering.

The processing suite reflects Sonora Cinematic's Select series signature approach, offering three distinct reverb and ambience tools: White Cloud delivers conventional high-quality studio reverb, Blue Signal applies a diffused cinematic ambience, and Pink Signal contributes a granular reverb texture. This combination prioritizes atmospheric integration over pristine clarity.
