About this plugin
Sonible's pure:limit represents a straightforward approach to dynamic control, prioritizing transparency and ease of use over complex feature sets. The plugin functions as a linear-phase limiter with integrated metering that provides real-time feedback on gain reduction and input/output levels, making it particularly useful during critical mastering work where phase relationships must remain intact. The algorithm exhibits minimal coloration, allowing it to operate effectively across full-mix applications without imparting the character associated with more colorful limiting topologies.
The interface emphasizes functional clarity. Essential parameters - threshold, release, and makeup gain - occupy prominent positions, while lookahead functionality prevents unwanted transient clipping. An optional soft-knee mode adds gentle compression characteristics below the threshold, providing flexibility for sources requiring more nuanced dynamics handling than simple brick-wall limiting delivers.

Pure:limit occupies a logical position within the current plugin landscape. It addresses engineers seeking reliable limiting without the saturation characteristics of vintage-inspired alternatives or the surgical precision of transparent mastering limiters that demand deeper technical engagement. The crossgrade pricing acknowledges that most serious producers already own comparable tools, positioning this primarily as a straightforward replacement or secondary instance within large mixing chains.
For session engineers managing dense arrangements or mastering specialists requiring straightforward transient control without phase manipulation, pure:limit provides adequate functionality. Its linear-phase operation and accurate metering make it suitable for precision work, though producers prioritizing sonic personality should evaluate alternatives offering greater tonal coloration.
